About the role:
As a QA Automation Engineer (Java), you'll become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. The Quality Assurance Architect will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and facilitating quality assurance (QA) practices within software development teams. Working in a cross-functional team, this role aims to ensure that all QA processes align with the Shift Left philosophy (integrating quality from the early stages of development), fostering continuous improvement of products and services through effective collaboration and optimization of quality methodologies.
Responsibilities
Cross-functional coordination: Work closely with development teams and other QA professionals to promote the integration of quality best practices from the early stages of the software development lifecycle
Shift Left implementation: Drive the adoption of the Shift Left philosophy across all software projects, ensuring early testing and the prompt identification and resolution of defects
Mentorship and training: Provide guidance and mentorship to QA team members to ensure they understand best practices and can effectively apply quality standards
Definition of standards and processes: Develop, maintain, and standardize quality processes and tools for development teams, ensuring consistency and alignment across projects
Continuous evaluation and improvement: Conduct quality assessments during design, development, and testing phases, fostering a culture of continuous software quality improvement
Test automation: Promote test automation to increase efficiency, reduce the time required to detect defects, and improve test coverage
Quality risk management: Identify potential quality risks early and work with teams to proactively mitigate them
Tool and technology management: Ensure teams have access to the right tools and technologies for effective testing and manage their integration into existing workflows
Continuous collaboration: Work with product, development, and operations teams to align goals and ensure the delivery of high-quality products
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in software QA, with at least 2 years in a leadership or QA coordination role
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of testing methodologies, automation, and quality tools
Experience implementing Shift Left practices in agile projects
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery)
Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
Knowledge of performance testing, security testing, and functional testing
Experience with Gherkin and Cucumber for behavior-driven test definition
Test automation tools: Experience with Cypress, Karate, JUnit, Mutation Testing, and Integration Testing
Desirable
Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to enhance software quality and architecture
Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and its integration into the development lifecycle
Mobile application testing experience (Android & iOS)
Software testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB)
Familiarity with additional automation tools such as Selenium, TestNG, etc
Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD best practices
Language:
Spanish
English (Minimum B2)
Personal skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to guide and coordinate cross-functional teams
Proactive approach, capable of identifying quality issues early and proposing effective solutions
Mentorship skills, with experience training professionals in QA best practices
