Ciklum is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team full-time in Romania.

About the role:

As a Senior Data Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team covering build/development of new solutions and supporting the current solution. The service covers the backend part, building and maintaining the infrastructure and processes necessary for organization to effectively manage and leverage their data assets for informed decision-making and business success. Further, the service also includes the front-end part, i.e. visualization of the solution (Power BI), including report and dashboard design, building/development as well as maintenance of the solution. It includes also change request handling in term of change request fulfillment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions

This role involves:

  • Working with stakeholders to understand business requirements, analyzing data sources, and creating visually compelling dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI
  • Ensures that the insights delivered are accurate, actionable, and aligned with business objectives
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and define key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI
  • Implement advanced analytics features, including DAX calculations and data modeling
  • Optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for speed and usability
  • Address performance issues related to large datasets or complex calculations
  • Integrate Power BI with other tools and platforms, such as SQL Server, Excel, Azure, or APIs
  • Automate data refresh processes and ensure seamless updates
  • Conduct unit testing and validation of Power BI solutions to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Document processes, data flows, and report logic for future reference
  • Provide training to end-users on how to interact with Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Offer ongoing support and maintenance for deployed solutions
  • Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and best practices
  • Identify opportunities to enhance current processes or reporting capabilities

Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, and custom visuals)
  • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices
  • Knowledge of SQL for querying and database management
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Azure (preferred)

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and derive actionable insights
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address data and performance challenges

Communication Skills:

  • Effective communication to collaborate with stakeholders and present insights clearly
  • Ability to translate technical findings into business-friendly language
