Ciklum is looking for a Senior Embedded Linux/Yocto Engineer to join our team full-time in the Czech Republic.

About the role:

As a Senior Embedded Linux/Yocto Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain Yocto-based Linux distributions for certain BSPs
  • Configure and customize the Linux components like Linux Kernel or U-boot bootloader (excluding custom driver development)
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment
  • Collaborates with hardware engineers on hardware-software integration
  • Provide post-production support
  • Performing research and developing proof of concept prototypes

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Yocto Project (BitBake, recipes, layers, and BSP configuration)
  • Proficiency in Linux kernel configuration, bootloader setup, and system debugging
  • Hands-on experience with Git, Git workflows, and patch management
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Github Worklows, or similar) for automated builds
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics for hardware-software modifying / debugging
  • Ability to think in an analytic and structured way
  • Ability to mentor junior and intern teammates
  • Strong English language
  • Strong technical documentation writing skills
  • Ability to document properly systems functionality
  • Good presentational and visualization skills. Ability to describe and present results clearly, answer questions and communicate issues

  • Experience working closely with client representatives to achieve business outcomes
  • General working knowledge of agile methodologies
