Ciklum is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our team full-time in the Prague.

About the role:

As a Senior Java Developer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. Working for a client dedicated to ensuring safety for people and society, emphasizing it as a fundamental human right. With decades of experience in secure and integrated communication solutions, their team includes experts in system engineering, radio integration, IP networks, security accreditations, information assurance, and hardware. The client’s comprehensive Communication System addresses key challenges in various sectors:

  •  Military Operations: Provides secure, reliable communication to enhance operational efficiency and adapt to evolving technical requirements.
  •  Naval Operations: Delivers a resilient communication system with a modular design, ensuring compatibility with third-party and legacy systems.
  •  Cyber Security: Features real-time monitoring and threat detection through an integrated security management tool to protect critical infrastructures.
  •  Air Traffic Control: Offers a robust, user-friendly communication interface for air traffic controllers, improving situational awareness and integrating with automation systems.

Responsibilities

  •  Back-End development to meet business needs and implement software components according to technical and delivery standards
  •  Taking part in the decision-making process in design architecture, solution development, code review
  •  Develop and review feature design documents and provide inputs/update to specifications for the solution
  •  Design and implement a set of various types of code tests (e.g. unit, modules, integration, etc)
  •  Participate in the team activities according to the delivery methodology (e.g. daily meetings, planning, retrospectives etc)
  •  Communicate with Technical Lead, Architects, QAs, developers and other colleagues and stakeholders
  •  Delivering the product roadmap and plannings
  •  To use high coding standards, software best practices and write highly testable, automatable and performant code over the whole SDLC
  •  Сoach/supervise middle/junior engineers by demand of the project

Requirements

Software Development:

  •  In-depth proficiency level in Java;
  •  Good knowledge in Computer Science and Computing Theory (e.g. paradigm & principles, data structures, integration and design patterns, security best practices), network interactions conventions and protocols
  •  Practical experience with:
    •  Integrations with different 3rd party systems and APIs
    •  Messaging systems (especially with MQTT protocol)
    •  Git (Bitbucket will be a plus)
    •  Refactoring, Troubleshooting, profiling and debugging of applications

Software Design:

  •  Experience with creation software architecture and design for complex applications
  •  Use of best practices and patterns during application design and implementation
  •  Hands-on experience with different architectural styles (e.g. modular monolith, services architecture, event-driven, etc)

Quality Assurance:

  •  Good knowledge of the code testing theory
  •  In-depth proficiency level in JUnit, Mockito
  •  Previous participation in constant application quality improvements: conducting code reviews, using and analysing code quality metrics, and monitoring
  •  Experience with code inspection tools (e.g. SonarQube, CodeScene)

Build and Deploy:

  •  Understanding of CI/CD process
  •  Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment tools (TeamCity will be a plus)
  •  Collaborates with the DevOps team to set up and configuration of CI/CD pipelines

Desirable

  • Experience with modular monolithic architecture
  • Experience with Hazelcast
  • Code development using Jetbrains IntelliJ IDEA
  • Experience with code artifactory tools (jFrog)
  • Experience with Java Google Web Toolkit, Java Swing
  • Practical experience with application performance optimization

  •  Communication is a key. You speak and write in English fluently or at least at upper- intermediate level.
