Ciklum is looking for a Senior Java Developer with GemFire to join our team full-time in the US .

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join the engineering team building Project Everest, a next-generation platform transitioning from a monolithic PBM architecture (RxIQ) to a scalable, microservices-based solution tailored for government programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the GemFire architecture, writing distributed Java services, and integrating with core system components. You will work alongside product owners, architects, and DevOps to deliver low-latency, high-availability transactional services on top of the Apache Geode (GemFire) in-memory data grid.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain Java-based microservices that leverage GemFire for distributed caching and in-memory data operations
  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of caching strategies, regions, and query models using OQL
  • Collaborate with architects on data partitioning, consistency models, and replication strategies
  • Perform performance tuning including JVM optimization, GC profiling, and low-latency transaction processing
  • Build robust failover and recovery mechanisms (HA/DR) within the data grid and system layers
  • Write unit/integration tests and participate in peer reviews to ensure code quality and traceability

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Java and Spring Framework development (including Spring Boot, Spring Data)
  • Hands-on expertise in GemFire / Apache Geode (configuration, region setup, OQL query development)
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and distributed systems concepts:
    • Partitioning, replication, consistency models, data locality
  • Solid grasp of design patterns and microservice architecture principles
  • Experience with performance tuning (GC, heap, CPU/memory analysis)
  • Familiarity with HA/DR concepts (replication, recovery strategies)

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of SQL and ORM frameworks (Hibernate, JPA)
  • Exposure to scripting languages: Groovy, Python
  • Familiarity with containerized environments: Kubernetes, Docker
  • Observability stack: Grafana, Prometheus, Pulse
  • Front-end or integration experience: JavaScript, .NET (minimal)
