Ciklum is looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our team full-time in Slovakia.

About the role:

As a Senior Python Developer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. 

Our Client is a leading European omnichannel fashion retailer. The client's IT arm serves as the central solution provider for all information technology within the group. They plan, develop, and operate a wide spectrum of IT solutions, from network
infrastructure and classic back-end systems to the latest digital technologies and all required services. This role is within a dedicated team focused on developing and maintaining crucial Point of Sale (POS) and Cashdesk systems for our client's physical retail stores. These systems are the backbone of in-store transactions and include:

  • Software for the small computer units ("cashdesks") used by sales staff at the counter
  • Integration with receipt printers
  • Connectivity with payment terminals for card transactions
  • Synchronization of sales data to the cloud for comprehensive reporting and analytics

You will be joining an agile team of approximately 12 individuals (a mix of client and Ciklum members), with about half the team focused on the cashdesk software and the other half on sales data reporting. This team is part of a larger structure of 13-14 teams and collaborates with a significant Data Engineering department. Our developers appreciate the environment for its ample learning opportunities. This project requires a proactive approach, consistent engagement, and regular participation in meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing requirements for new features and enhancements
  • Designing and implementing robust and scalable new functionalities for the POS and Cashdesk systems
  • Maintaining and improving the existing codebase
  • Collaborating effectively with other team members (developers, testers, analysts) and directly with the client
  • Actively participating in project meetings, contributing ideas, and sharing knowledge

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python development
  • Experience with Python testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest) and web application frameworks (e.g., FastAPI or similar)
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with Apache Kafka
  • Good command of the English language (both written and spoken) for effective communication with an international team and client
  • Proactive mindset, with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to team goals
  • Reliable and consistent in attending meetings and fulfilling project responsibilities

Desirable

  • Experience with Java/Kotlin or Scala
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of microservices architecture
  • Proficiency with GIT version control

The salary starts from 3200 Euro gross. The final salary depends on the previous experience and professional knowledge of the candidate.
