Join our team as a Senior Python Software Engineer and play a key role in shaping the future of our client's platform. As part of a cross-functional development team, your work will directly impact scaling the platform to handle heavy loads and achieve global reach. Collaborating closely with our talented tech team, you'll bring fresh ideas—whether inspired by user feedback or market trends—and help us make smart, lasting decisions that drive success.
The challenge: 1 million users rely on our platform, and we aim to scale to 50 million. Stability and scalability are critical as we enhance the framework, improve robustness, and optimize key features like authorization, routing, and component interaction.
Responsibilities
- Build, own, and maintain combinatorial optimization algorithms for employee scheduling
- Conduct data analysis to monitor the quality and effectiveness of the optimization results
- Build, own, and maintain machine learning models
- Perform data preparation, interpretation, analysis, and visualisation
- Collaborate closely with data engineers, optimization engineers, and software developers within the team—participating in brainstorming, code reviews, and challenging solution approaches
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Proven experience developing and implementing combinatorial optimization algorithms, ideally related to scheduling, resource allocation, or workforce planning
- Strong proficiency in machine learning techniques and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- Experience with data preparation, analysis, interpretation, and visualization tools (e.g., Python libraries such as pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, or similar)
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices
- Proficient coding skills in Python, and familiarity with other programming languages such as Java, C++, or similar is beneficial
- Ability to effectively collaborate within cross-functional teams, including data engineers, optimization engineers, and software developers
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of conducting rigorous analysis to evaluate algorithm effectiveness
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proactive approach to learning new tools, technologies, and methodologies in optimization and machine learning
- Experience with Data Engineering or MLOps tools and deployment practices
Desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking, being able to implement improvement plans based on monitoring solutions
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex database concepts to developers and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to plan large projects spanning multiple weeks, managing requirements and stakeholders
