Ciklum is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. We seek a seasoned BI professional to lead and support the end-to-end business intelligence solution lifecycle: from requirements gathering and architecture design, data ingestion and modelling, to dashboard/reporting delivery and ongoing platform maintenance. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data architects, and front-end engineers to ensure reliable, actionable insights that drive business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering & Solution Design
    • Work with stakeholders (business SMEs, product owners) to capture reporting needs, KPIs, and success metrics
    • Translate business objectives into technical requirements, ensuring solutions align with overall BI and enterprise architecture strategies
    • Define and document data architecture, data flows, and integration points for BI applications
  • Data Ingestion, Transformation & Modelling
    • Design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines to gather data from diverse sources, applying the best data quality and governance practices
    • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Architects on data warehouse/lake structures, ensuring scalable and optimal data models for analytics use cases
    • Create and maintain dimensional models, data marts, and other data artefacts for accurate, performant reporting
  • Dashboard & Reporting Development
    • Configure BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or equivalent) to build intuitive, high-value dashboards and operational reports
    • Establish and enforce dashboard development standards—visual design, performance optimization, data security, etc
    • Conduct user acceptance testing sessions, incorporate feedback, and refine BI deliverables accordingly
  • Performance Tuning & Validation
    • Optimize query and reporting performance; proactively identify bottlenecks in the ETL, data model, or BI layer
    • Develop validation checks and data quality frameworks to ensure reliable, accurate insights
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to test new features, address any data-related issues, and enhance user experience
  • Maintenance & Continuous Integration
    • Monitor BI platform health, troubleshoot production incidents, and implement fixes or improvements to ensure stable operations
    • Oversee the release management process, ensuring seamless updates to BI solutions in line with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices
    • Track evolving reporting needs, coordinate prioritization with product owners and recommend incremental enhancements
  • Collaboration & Thought Leadership
    • Partner with Front-End (FE) Engineers for seamless embedding of BI dashboards into web or mobile applications
    • Mentor junior team members; evangelize BI best practices and standards across the organization
    • Stay up to date on industry trends, evaluating new technologies and methods to continuously improve the BI ecosystem

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in BI analytics, data warehousing, or related data roles 
  • BI Tools: Hands-on expertise with at least one major BI platform (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.)
  • SQL & Data Modelling: Advanced SQL skills; experience building and maintaining data models (dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas)
  • ETL/ELT & Data Pipelines: Proficiency in data ingestion and transformation tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Talend, Airflow, or similar)
  • Cloud & Big Data: Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (AWS), including modern data warehousing (Redshift), is highly desirable
  • Version Control & CI/CD: Experience with Git-based workflows and delivering BI solutions in an Agile environment
  • Performance Optimization: Proven record of optimizing complex queries and BI environments

Desirable

  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis and scripting
  • Background in financial services or payments

Personal skills

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Upper-intermediate or Advanced English
  • Ability to translate business requirements into compelling BI solutions
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and result-oriented
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
