About the role

As a Data Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

As a Senior Data Engineer specializing in custom data ingestion and orchestration, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining our data pipelines for a high-impact RAG-based AI product. Your primary responsibility will involve writing custom data ingestion code in Python and SQL, orchestrating document processing pipelines using Airflow, leveraging dbt for data transformation, and building indices in OpenSearch to power our application backend. This will include writing clients for RESTful APIs, scraping text from websites, cleaning data from text transcripts, and extracting data from PDFs and images. Additionally, you will be tasked with implementing data quality and observability solutions to ensure the reliability and accuracy of our data.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain custom data ingestion solutions for a variety of data sources
  • Design and orchestrate document processing pipelines in Airflow
  • Utilize dbt for data transformation and modeling
  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring solutions to ensure data integrity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions
  • Optimize data pipelines for scalability, performance, and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data ingestion and processing
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in data engineering and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our data infrastructure
  • Document processes, workflows, and best practices for knowledge sharing and team collaboration

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5 years) as a Data Engineer
  • High level of proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Cloud engineering (AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with orchestrating workflows (Airflow)
  • Hands-on experience with data transformation and modeling (dbt)
  • Strong understanding of data quality principles and experience implementing data quality checks

Desirable

  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with search engine databases (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and Node.js
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
